Socialist Realism Definition

Socialist Realism refers to the official style of Soviet art which was prevalent from 1930s till the disintegration of U.S.S.R. Socialist Realism aimed at promoting state propaganda and the guidelines laid out in 1934 required art to be (1) proletarian, to be relevant and easily understandable to the working class, (2) typical, with everyday scenes, (3) realistic and (4) partisan, to support Party.
