Pottery Midcentury Definition

Potteries made during 1940s till 1975 decorated with mid-century artworks and designs are called mid-century potteries.  This period marked the Atomic-age and had a huge makeover in terms of art and artistic works. This also marked the wide use of bright and bold colours. Ceramic designs had French, German, USA and Italian contributors during that time. Mid-century potteries had thick glazes and were bulky and heavy. They were usually multi-layered with different textures and colours and had abstract designs.
