Plumbago Definition

The word Plumbago is basically a Latin word which refers to a type of lead. The word is derived from the Latin word plumbum which means led. It means a lead ore and is an old name for graphite. Graphite is a black coloured mineral which is soft and lustrous. It is made to mix with clay to use in pencil leads. It is also used in paints and other similar products as lubricants.
