Northern Dynasty Definition

Northern Dynasty was a period in the Chinese history. It lasted from 310-589 CE. This is regarded as the latter part of the Six Dynasties which was a longer period. There was great progress in art during this period. Stone carvings were popular and it contained painted sculptures, mausoleum sculptures, grottoes etc. Maitreya altarpiece and Seated Bhuddha with Attending Bodhisattvas are two important art works during this period.
