The term  nichrome refers to an alloy which contains nickel, iron, chromium, and mostly iron, accompanied by minor amounts of other elements or substances. A peculiarity of nichrome is that it is capable of withstanding high temperatures. So, it is primarily used in devices such as electrical heating elements, furnaces, resistance wire etc.
