Minbar refers to the raised platform located to the right of mihrab, pointing to the direction of Mecca. Sermons and speeches are given from minbar. In the simplest form, minbar is a platform with three steps. Minbar is built as domed box with stairs. The door way leading to the stairs can be closed.
