Minaret is an Islamic element of architecture. The term refers to the tall, slender tower used by muezzin to call the faithful to prayer. The minaret in Kairouan, Tunisia built between 724 and 727 is the oldest minaret in the world. The minaret has one or more balconies, used by muezzin to call for prayer.
