Low Relief Definition

Low relief is a sculptural technique where the relief project little from the background. It appears to be carved around the edges. Low relief is also known as bas- relief or basso– relievo. Low relief was commonly used in Ancient Egypt and Asian sculptures. The low reliefs of Ajanta and Ellora caves in India is an example of this technique.
