Entartete Definition

Entartete refers to the term employed by Nazis to depict art considered to be against official policies. The term entartete is used to describe art they considered degenerative or decayed. Entartete was the title given to an art exhibition held in Munich in 1937 by the Nazis. The Nazis gave the name Entartete Kunst or Degenerate Art. The movement targeted avant-garde artists who were asked not to paint by Joseph Goebbels, Minister for Public Enlightenment.
