Cro Magnon Definition

Cro-Magnon refers to earliest form of modern Homo sapiens. They belonged to early forms of human species that existed during Aurignacian period that developed about 35000 years ago. They physically resembled modern Europeans and were found in the Cro- Magnon caves in Dordogne, France. Some of the earliest form of human art was produced by Cro-Magnon people who painted the walls of their caves. In contrast to the utilitarian culture of Neanderthals, the Cro-Magnon people had a culture that developed figurines especially the mysterious Venus figurines, cave paintings and ornament making which was distinctive part of Cro-Magnon’s culture.
