Chelsea Definition

Chelsea in reference to antique implies Chelsea porcelain. They derived their name from the place they were made – Chelsea, London. Production was from 1745 to 1769.The pieces made from soft paste was marked with gold anchor to identify the products. Porcelain designs were mostly borrowed from the Meissen models at the time and from the Sevres. Some of the porcelain pieces produced from 1770 to 1784 are called Chelsea Derby and had a letter D for Derby in the mark.
