Throwing Definition

The term “throwing” in art usually relates to pottery. Throwing is the whole process of shaping the clay on the potter's wheel. From the preparation of clay, wedging the clay to dissipate the air pockets, centering it on wheel, opening the clay in the center, a making a desired object out of the potter’s wheel, and giving it final touches. The specific process of making an object, pot or any other object, into a desired shape while on potter’s wheel is also referred as “throwing.”
