Tamping Definition

  1. Tamping is an act of pressing or packing a substance tightly and firmly into a mould. In Art, clay, damp sand, concrete or resin-soaked glass fiber may be tightly packed into a mold to form a shape.
  2. The term is also used to mean to pack clay, sand, or dirt tightly into a blast hole drilled to have more force to the explosion.
