Rookwood Definition

Rookwood pottery, famous for the flame mark was made in Cincinnati from 1880 to 1960. The pottery popular among art pottery collectors was founded by Maria Longworth Nichols. The hand decorated pottery followed European and Asian styles. The Rookwood patterns include vases, architectural tiles, book ends and figurines. The Rookwood logo has a backward R and P side by side surrounded by flames.
