The term Pulpitum refers to a large stone choir screen found in a Gothic cathedral. In Gothic cathedrals, the major, central area where the congregation gathers called nave is separated from the choir by pulpitum. This excluded the public from the liturgy performed behind the screen. It is also called a jube.
