Post And Lintel Definition

Post and lintel is an ancient form of architecture which constructs an opening with the help of horizontal beams or lintels. It is considered to be the simplest form of Ancient Greek architecture. This form of architecture is also called trabeated system where a horizontal header is supported over two vertical columns or pillars like that of a door opening. Later similar kind of architecture was followed for openings of doors and windows.
