Parsemage Definition

The term Parsemage refers to a surrealistic method in visual arts in which an image is made by scattering dust from charcoal or colored chalk on water and then the design is skimmed off by passing a stiff paper or cardboard just under the water's surface. This method was invented by surrealist Ithell Colquhoun.
