Lithography Definition

Lithography is a style of printing from a stone or metal plate. The image is drawn on a stone with a waxy crayon. The stones were treated with some acid and moistened. Later an ink based on oil will be applied and the stone rolled over a blank paper which prints the drawing on the stone.  The stone used for lithography is usually limestone.
