Intaglio refers to an antique art or process of carving, engraving, or etching a design, figure, or ornamentation on the surface of a stone or a similar hard object. Intaglio technique was used in ancient times to carve or engrave jewellery. Designs and figures engraved on objects such as coins, gems, hardstones, and seals are various examples of Intaglio.
