Hawkes Definition

Hawkes refers to cut glass made by T.G. Hawkes & Company. The firm was established at Corning in New York in 1880. Till 1962, the glass blanks cut at Hawkes were made at other glass works. Most of the glass pieces designed by the firm were embossed with a trademark consisting of a trefoil ring enclosing a fleur-de-lis and two hawks. Ashtrays, bottles, candlesticks, tumblers and many other bowls were made by Hawkes.
