Golden Mean Definition

Golden Mean refers to a ratio or a proportion. It is the proportional relation obtained by dividing a line so that the shorter part is to the longer part as the longer part is to the whole. i.e. a ratio of approximately 0.618 to 1.0
In a variety of art and design works as in nature, the golden mean produces a harmonic effect called eurythmy. Thus, dimensions determined by this formula are aesthetically appealing.
