Didactic Definition

The word didactic is derived from a Greek word didaktikos which means apt at teaching. The word didaktikos is again derived from the word dadaskein which means to teach. Didactic means something that is provided as an instruction. It is both artistic as well as instructive. When a painting or drawing or an art exhibits a moral lesson, it is said to have a didactic meaning. Sometimes the term is also associated with being over instructive which makes an art boring and dull.
