Crown Definition

In architecture, crown means the apex of an arch or a tower. In art it means a headpiece worn by a king or a queen. Crown is a traditional symbol of power, legitimacy, victory and honour and is worn by monarchs or by deities. The pioneer in crown wearing was Achaemenid Persian emperors and this was subsequently adopted by later rulers of Roman Empire. It is an emblem of monarchy, monarch’s government and its associates and is considered heroic. There are crowns which may be made with flowers, oak leaves or thorns in the form of a wreath. In religious art, crowns are usually embedded with jewels and have an antique value.  There are a number of crowns like White crown, Red Crown, Pschent crown and blue crown of Pharaonic Egypt.
