Chamber Of Wonders Definition

The term Chamber of Wonders originated from the German word ‘Wunderkammer’ meaning chamber of wonders. This term was used to refer to the cabinets or rooms where artistic, technical, scientific, historical, or any other rarities were collected and stored. Wunderkammers were seen as early as the fifteenth century. During the renaissance period, the rich and learned collected these natural as well as manmade wonders and stored it in a series of rooms. These collections were basically to show the encyclopedic knowledge of the people who owned it. They owned and exhibited these collections for pleasure. Now we can rarely see chamber of wonders.
