Cambridge Glass Definition

Cambridge Glass is a glass company that was started in early 20th century in Cambridge, Ohio. The company produced hand molded, hand pressed, and hand blown glassware. The bases of such pieces were often hand finished. The extra steps that the company followed, for example, inserting back the glass ware into the ‘glory hole’ for fire polishing and giving it a glossy look, added beauty to such glassware. Initially the Company produced clear or colored glass. After a while, the company started making glassware with engraved and etched designs. Crown Tuscan (pink opaque), Amberina (shaded red amber), Carmen (ruby), Peach-Blo (pink), Moonlight Blue, Royal Blue, Ebony, and shades of Emerald Green were the main colors that the company used for Cambridge glass. The company closed in 1954 and briefly reopened its operations after sometime. However, it was shut down again in 1958.
