Benday Definition

Ben day is a process of producing shading effects mechanically by using different dot pattern screens. This process was invented by Benjamin Day and was widely used in printmaking. In this process, minute colored dots are arranged closely, widely or are overlapped. Ben day dots are commonly used in comic books, for example, Pulp comic book used Ben day dots. The commercial use of this process reduced with the growth of digital imaging.
