Balcony Definition

In architecture, a balcony is a raised, unenclosed space on a building.  Generally attached to a second floor or higher, balconies are upper-level, outdoor spaces. They may be reached using windows or doors, and are usually encircled by a short parapet or fence.  Balconies might also be indoor, upper-level enclosures in theaters, auditoriums, and the like.
