Alchemy is a chemical science that was used in the ancient period, especially during the Middle Ages, that aimed to convert base metals into gold. In relation to art, work of certain contemporary artists used alchemical symbols as an inspirational topic. Alchemical thinking is vital in visual arts. Some visual artists use alchemy to create satire.
