438 Victorian "Jewel of the Night" Hanging Library Lamp w/Inset Gems
c1870-1890 Victorian Hanging Library Lamp of Hammered Copper, Reticulated Brass and Wrought Iron with inset faceted Jewels in colors of Amethyst, Emeralds, Sapphires, Rubies and Topaz. A kerosine oil lamp, but electrified many years ago. The rim supporting the brass shade is pierced to attach multi-colored prisms, which originally would have been present. Called "Jewels of the Night" Lamps, for the colors that were reflected on the walls of Victorian homes. Many a soul was said to have been mesmerized. 21"h x 19"w
