An oily resin obtained from the wood of coniferous or deciduous trees. It is used in oil painting, lithographic works, waxing, and in varnishes. Venice turpentine is yellowish or yellowish green in color. It is used to give glossy or semi-transparent glaze to a painting. However, in the modern age, we can see synthetic substitutes to venice turpentine.
