Teddy Bears Definition

Teddy Bears are considered to be named after President Theodore Roosevelt, indicating a hunting incident where he declined to shoot at a bear kept ready for him by his friends. Morris and Ross Michtom displayed a stuffed bear doll called Teddy, following the incident. The bear became a sensation and Michtoms founded Ideal Novelty and Toy Company. The German version of Teddy Bears were made by the Steiff Company.
