Silver Viennese Definition

Silver-Viennese, in the context of antiques, may be used to refer to silverware that were produced and seen used in early days.  Articles made out of precious metals are usually assayed before they are put up for sale. 'W' is the Austria Assay town letter seen used on Vienna Silver pieces of the late 19th century. Collectors search for ancient Viennese silver jewellery, silver cutlery, flatware, trinket boxes, cigarette cases, decorative pieces etc.
