Quality Definition

The term quality refers to an inherent or distinctive feature of a person or a thing or, having a high degree of excellence. If a maker of a thing puts more care or effort in its making, the quality of a thing gets increased. In art education there are many instruments used in analyzing and deciding the nature and quality of a student’s accomplishment which include among others, rubrics, check-lists, games, and tests. Several art works have initially been denied ‘museum quality’ or artistic merit, and later became accepted and valued in museum and private collections. Examples of such work include, ‘Readymades’ of Marcel Duchamp including his infamous urinal ‘Fountain’.
