Pediment Definition

The word pediment in architecture means triangle shaped structure placed above a building by constructing a slope at the roof. It is usually big and wide can be seen in the portico of a structure. This kind of architecture can be seen in Greek, Grecian, baroque, classical and neoclassical style of architecture. It is basically a triangular element surmounted atop a building which is supported by pillars and columns.
