The term movement literally means the act or process of moving. Movement, along with time, is an important element in art. An art work may have actual or implied motion. The mobiles that twist and turn with air current are examples of actual movement in art works. Implied movement in art is achieved with lines and strokes. The term movement, in the context of art, has an alternative meaning. It refers to the group of artists having common ideology or general principles.
