Mihrab Definition

The term mihrab refers to the ornamental indention in a mosque directing towards Mecca (qiblah). Mihrab also refers to the design in the Muslim prayer rug directing towards Mecca. The faithful turn to Mecca during prayer. Mihrab is usually in the shape of a door way. It is decorated with tiles and varies in size and color.
