Loetz Definition

Loetz refers to glass made during Art Nouveau period by the company established by Johann Loetz in the present Czech Republic. The glass is renowned for the iridescent glow. Loetz had pioneered a technique called Marmoriertes which gave a red, pink or green marbled surface for vases and bowls. Phänomen and "oil spot" pieces are the best known Loetz antique pieces.
