German Expressionism Definition

German Expressionism refers to an art movement very much prevalent in Germany from 1905-1925. There were a great number of German Expressionists paintings and eventually it led to Neo-expressionism. Notably, works of Die Brücke and Der Blaue Reiter are generally referred to as German Expressionism. This movement was part of the larger Expressionist movement prevalent in Europe at the time in the field of painting, architecture, and cinema.
