Depth Of Field Definition

In the context of photography, the term depth of field refers to the distance between the farthest and nearest objects in an image. The area within such distance is much sharp in an image. The Depth of Field is also termed as Focus Range or Effective Focus Range. In some cases, an entire image might be very sharp for which a very large Depth of Field is mandatory. In some images the Depth of Field might be small due to the sole emphasize on the subject to be shot instead of the foreground and background.
