Denatured alchohol refers to a colorless, volatile, flammable, synthesized liquid, especially ethanol which is obtained by fermenting sugar and starches and adding acetone or methanol. As a result, it is poisonous, bad in taste and has a foul smell. Denatured alcohol is used as a solvent to dilute and dissolve shellac and aniline dyes.
