Corundum Definition

Corundum is a mineral that comes in all colours of rainbow but they are usually dull coloured opaque crystals. It is a hard mineral and is one of the sturdiest commercial gemstones. It is the crystalized form of aluminium oxide and breaks in a conchoidal manner. Corundum doesn't have a dominant cleavage and is used as an abrasive and polish.
