Brownies Definition

Brownies refers to characters in a series of children’s stories. Their characteristic feature was their large round eyes, downturned mouths, and skinny legs. They were first drawn by Palmer Cox in 1883. The book, The Brownies, is a collection of about fourteen Brownie stories. With popularity these characters were imprinted in collectibles such as toys, figurines, books, dinnerware, and other objects.
