Breathing Definition
When used in the context of art, ‘breathing’ is the contraction and expansion of absorbent surfaces consequent to the impact of weather. The term simply refers to the expansion or contraction of canvas, paper, or any other absorbent or woody surface that an artist uses for his work as a result of the atmospheric conditions.
