Ansel Adams and A Century of Photography From the Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts

November 19, 2016 – March 5, 2017 - One exhibition will be devoted to the work of Ansel Adams, whose ability to create photographs with a remarkable range and subtly of tones is legendary. This exhibition of Adams' photographs from the KIA collection suggests how his intuitive and emotional response to the landscape resulted in powerful and enduring photographs. Spanning the history of photography, the remaining galleries will be devoted to other works from the KIA collection including Eadweard Muybridge's 19th-century photographic studies of animal locomotion, Richard Misrach's contemporary chromogenic prints, and other noted and celebrated photographers such as Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Curtis, Dorothea Lange, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon and many others.
