American Treasures From the Farnsworth

April 04, 2015 - October 29, 2017 - This installation celebrates the important place Maine holds in the history of American art. This selection of works from the museum's collection includes a group of works that were shown in an exhibition this winter at the Society of Four Arts in Palm Beach, Florida. Among them are some of the museum's best known works, revealing the museum's strong holdings centered on its mission to celebrate Maine's role in American art. In practical terms, that means the Farnsworth has focused its collection and exhibition activities around those artists who have worked or lived in Maine.
