Collecting Colorado, original vintage maps!

Currently on display and for sale in the gallery is a colleciton of original vintage maps and views of Colorado.  Shown here is a vintage trading card published by Arbuckles Coffee company in the late 19th century.  These wonderful examples of advertising art came free in every package, and enticed customers to loyally sip their morning cup in order to collect the series. (we have other states available as well.)

This Territorial Map of Colorado by Francis Case was published in September of 1862 in Denver,  just a year and a half after formal incorporation, and predateing statehood by fifteen years.  The mountain parks, North, Middle and South are shown clearly. The Colorado River is shown as  "The Grand".  A scarce and fascinating glimpse of western history.  Locations of Indian Tribes, wagon routes, and "Gold Bearing Region" are shown.
Sunday 11-4pm.
